Learning Golf for Beginners
If you want to play golf for serious or simply as a hobby, the first thing that we suggest is getting a teacher or a pro. It will be very different if you learn from a professional than your own friends, unless your friend is a professional golf teacher. Your friend may introduce you to golf, but only professional golfers who will understand how to teach you lesson of golf, such as grip, golf swing, and posture. It is wise to find a professional on golf groups or driving range around your city that usually hold lesson and practice. You can have 3 courses until you get all rules and techniques related to golf.
However, if you don’t want to play golf by professionals’ instructions, you can still practice golf as a beginner by following these steps. At least, there are some things that you have to understand first before really get into the game.
First, buy set of golf clubs. It can be a second hand or the new one. As you are still a beginner, it does not matter if you only have a little few of clubs such as wood, iron, sand wedge, and putter. You also have to make sure that the clubs fit to your hand. Don’t make it hard by choosing random club that will make you uneasy during the real playing.
Second, you have to learn the rules of golf itself and study the materials that you can find in the real situation. You also have to know some etiquette such as don’t randomly swing if there are any living things around you, don’t talk when other players play since it will distract their concentration. You also have to stand away from the player who is swinging or you will be hit by the clubs or the ball.
Next, you need to learn how to grip and swing. Predicting the aims will be difficult if you do not master this. The two techniques are the basic mechanics you should practice as beginners. To make a mini swing for example, stand in front of the ball and use your hands, wrists, and forearms to lead the club. Rotate the club back until the position is horizontal. Use your left hand as the fulcrum to make the club rotate then finish the swings by keeping bend both of your legs. After all, playing golf will sharpen your honesty, respect and patience.
